As good as it gets

The Red Sox have been playing as well as any team in the majors of late and 
are guaranteed of at least being tied for first place in the American League East 
at the all-star break. Boston was full of hot hitters before managing a total of three hits 
in an 8-2 setback at Texas on Wednesday that snapped its six-game surge.

All-star Chris Sale is making his final start of the proverbial first half on Thursday. 
Sale (11-3, 2.61 ERA) is a strong candidate to get the start for the AL in Tuesday’s All-Star Game 
and leads the majors with 166 strikeouts. 
The left-hander breezed through seven scoreless innings at Toronto last Saturday, 
scattering four hits and striking out 11 in his third straight win. 
Sale made two starts against Tampa Bay earlier in the season and won both 
while allowing only four runs and five hits with 24 strikeouts in 14 total innings.

 

Boston right-handed reliever Matt Barnes has not allowed a hit in any of 
his last five appearances, totaling 5.2 innings. 
Tampa Bay infielder Brad Miller (groin) is on a rehab assignment and 
could return to the team during the series this weekend 
but will be out again on Thursday. 
The Red Sox are 6-1 in their last seven overall, 5-1 in their last six on the road, 
and 7-1 in Sale’s last eight starts. 
Tampa Bay is 2-6 in its last eight at home against left-handed staters, 
3-8 in the last 11 meetings between the two teams, 
and 2-5 in its last seven at home against the Sox. Look for those trends to continue.

리그에서 리더의 역활을 할것이다.

올스타 크리스 세일은   오늘 올시즌 전반기 마지막 등판이 될것이다.

세일은 11승 3패 방어율 2.61 166개의 삼진으로 올스타의 강력한 후보이다.

좌완 세일은 지난 경기인 토론토전에서 7인닝 동안 무실점 하면서 드문드문 4안타만을 허용하면서 

11개의 삼진 아웃을 잡아내며 그의 3연승을 이루어 내었다.

세일은 올 시즌 탬파베이전에 두번 등판을 하여 두 경기 모두 승을 가져갔으며 14인닝 동안 

24개의 삼진 아웃을 잡으면서 겨우 5개 안타와 4실점을 하였다.

 

보스턴의 중간 계투인 맷 바네스는 5.2인닝 동안 한개의 안타도 허용하지 않고 있다.

탬파베이의 내야수 브래드 밀러는 부상으로 인해 오늘 경기에는 출전을 하지 못한다.

보스턴은 지난 7경기에서 6승 1패, 지난 6번의 원정 경기에서 5승 1패,

그리고 세일이 등판한 지난 8 경기에서 7승 1패를 거두고 있다.
